Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 cup boiling water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Beat in boiling water and vanilla extract.
Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
